The Northport Tigers of Suffolk Class A land at number 7 in the LILJ top 25 preseason rankings. A team that is always expected to have a deep playoff run, last season was no exception as they appeared in the county championship game where they were narrowly defeated by Half Hollow Hills. This year will once again see the Tigers very much in the thick of Class A as they will look to get right back to the county title game and appear in their fourth Long Island Championship in the last five seasons.
The offense for Northport averaged over 11 goals per game last season and sees the return of their leader in both goals and points in senior Ohio State commit Jack Deliberti at attack. In his junior season Deliberti scored 46 goals with 18 assists for 64 points. Adding to their offense includes senior Logan Cash (Siena) and juniors Luke Loiacono (Marist) and Greyson Cabrera (UMass). Last season saw Cash account for 48 points with 28 goals and 20 assists, and Loiacono the lefty also contributed with 48 points as a sophomore with 40 goals and 8 assists. Cabrera added 16 points with 8 goals and 8 assists. At the face-off X looking to get the ball to their offense will be senior Dartmouth commit Dylan Baumgarth. This year the team will be without 2024 graduates Luca Elmaleh, Quinn Reynolds and Tim McLam on the offensive end of the field.
Returning as part of the Tigers defense includes Cameron Foley (Stony Brook), Asher Levine (Geneseo) in the senior class and sophomore Jack Trizzino, but will be minus 2024 graduate Giancarlo Valenti. In the goal this year looks to be Gavin Stabile (Lenoir-Rhyne) stepping in as the starter replacing 2024 graduate Quinn Napolitano. As a team their defense was more than stout last year, allowing fewer than six goals per game.
Northport opens up the regular season with their first league matchup against Sachem North on March 31st.
