No. 5 Ranked Manhasset Team Preview

As we’re now down to the final five in the LILJ top 26 preseason rankings, Manhasset comes in at number five. A program that has a history of winning titles, the expectation this year remains the same as they look to build on last year’s 12 win regular season and appearance in the county championship. The team has a blend of experience, emerging young talent, and a roster that returns many of its most productive contributors from a year ago. Under the direction of head coach Tom Campolettano, now in his ninth season at the helm between two different stints, Set is focused on building chemistry and trusting one another as they look to take the next step in a competitive landscape and get back to the LIC for the first time since 2023.

The strength of this group lies in its returning core for upperclassmen, led by one of the county’s most dynamic offensive players in Elim Yang (Princeton). Yang was electric in 2025, posting a team-high 69 points, scoring 39 goals and dishing out 30 assists, serving as the engine of Manhasset’s offense. She’s joined by Harper Lambert (Duke), who was also a primary scoring threat with 48 goals and 53 points, along with two-way midfielders Grayson Denihan (Boston College) and Taylor Gordon (Boston College), who combined for 54 points. In goal, Ruby Caccioppo (Stanford) returns as the starter after making 111 saves, providing experience and leadership between the pipes.

Manhasset also brings back a promising group of juniors and sophomores who are expected to take on larger roles in 2026. Danielle Perfetto (Brown) was a major offensive contributor last season with 37 points, while Mia Gavin (Lafayette) and Katie Murphy both showed scoring upside with 18 and 15 points respectively. Midfielders Audrey Shen (Columbia) and Autumn Maley are among the players poised for expanded responsibilities as the staff leans into its depth. A notable addition to the roster is Meredith Weigand (Merrimack), who transfers in from Sacred Heart and adds another layer of varsity experience to the defense.

This winter Manhasset took part in the LILJ winter league to gear up for what they hope is a long season. With a proven offensive nucleus, a returning starting goalie, and a wave of young players ready to step forward, Manhasset heads into 2026 with plenty of excitement. If they can fully buy into their chemistry-driven approach and trust each other in big moments, they have the pieces to make a strong push to bring home hardware at seasons end. They begin the season with their first regular season game against Westhampton on 3/21 in a non-league matchup, followed by their first game in the power conference against Lynbrook on 3/25.
