At number eight in the LILJ top 26 preseason rankings are the Huntington Blue Devils of Suffolk Class A. The 2025 season was one for the ages, as the program won their first Long Island Championship in 30 years and made it to the regionals where their season came to an end. The team heads into the 2026 season with a great opportunity to pick up where they left off as they bring back an experienced senior core ready for another strong year. With the departure of Head Coach Katie Reilly, this year will see the team led by co-head coaches Megan Marinelli and Christopher Taylor as they look to remain at the top of Long Island’s Class A.
With plenty of offensive firepower returning that make up this year’s graduating class, the Blue Devils are positioned to remain a serious threat to add to their trophy case this season. Offensively, Huntington returns a dynamic senior class that will drive the scoring in 2026. Jolie Weinschreider (Rutgers) is a proven scoring option and two-way player after totaling 64 points from the midfield. Grace Gordon (Lafayette) comes off an impressive 62-point campaign and Valentina Puccio (Hofstra) delivered 48 points and brings speed and toughness between the lines, while Bridget Callery (Quinnipiac) adds reliability on the attacking end with 30 points. This group gives Huntington multiple scoring threats who can pressure defenses in different ways. The supporting cast is equally important as younger attackers like sophomore Olivia Puccio showed promise with 14 points as an underclassman and could take another step forward.
The biggest graduation losses come from the midfield, where Sabrina Boyle departs after a monster season that saw her rack up 64 points, along with Devon St. John and Jenna Italiano, who combined for 45 points and provided consistent two-way play.
Defensively, players such as Ava McDonald (Delaware), Cameron Smith, Kyra Larsen, Isabella Palacios, Madyn Kalb and Claire Dello-Iacono will be key in stabilizing the unit. In goal, Huntington returns experience with sophomore Juliet Johnson, one of the premier stoppers in the class who made 80 saves in 2025, gaining valuable varsity reps that should translate into growth this season.
With a strong senior nucleus leading the way, Huntington enters 2026 focused on going for the LIC repeat. If the returning scorers continue to produce and the defense settles in, Huntington has the tools to be one of the last teams when May and June arrive. They will begin their quest for a repeat with their first regular season game on 3/24 against Middle Country.
