Adelphi University Hosts D1/D2 Fall Play Day

On October 25th Adelphi University hosted a fall Division 1 vs Division 2 play day as teams continue to gear up for the 2026 season. A total of six teams from across the tri-state area were in action this past weekend with each matchup featuring a division 1 vs division 2 opponent. The Division 1 schools that were in attendance included Sacred Heart University, Long Island University, and Siena University. At the Division 2 level the schools competing were Adelphi University, Mercy University, and Pace University. Each team played a total of three games of 17 minute periods running time as they tune up for what hopes to be a long spring season. Here are the players that stood out over the weekend for their respective programs!

Adelphi University 

Marielle Colalillo- Attack/Junior A dual threat with the ball in her stick as both a feeder and a finisher. Jillian McFadden- Goalie/Senior A number of shots came her way and McFadden was all over many of them.

Long Island University 

Julia Trainor- Midfield/Senior A playmaker with or without the ball on offense whether it was scoring off the dodge or finishing plays off of assists. Ava Hernandez- Sophomore/Attack Read the defense well and found the seams to make plays as a feeder. Catherine Batterberry- Sophomore/Midfield A difference maker both on offense and defense as a two-way middie. Alicia Inkeles- Defense/Graduate Student A disruptor on defense creating takeaways and coming up with 50/50 ground balls. Ashley Tuohy- Defense/Freshman As a defensive midfielder played strong individual defense and was great in the clearing game.

Mercy University 

Olivia LaMonica– Goalie/Senior She was excellent in the net as the defensive anchor. Ashlinn Kelly– Midfield/Sophomore Made key stops on defense, gained big possessions off the draw and took her dodges when she had which resulted in goals. Jessica Grzelaczyk– Attack/Freshman Strong presence on the attack and is already beginning to attract some of the top defenders from other teams. Emily Marino– Defense/Senior Excellent on clears and strong take away. She will be depended upon a ton this upcoming season without 1st team all-American, Lindsey Shimborske who graduated.

Pace University

Sasha Kulo- Draw Specialist/Senior A commanding presence on the draw circle providing the team with a number of possessions. Abby O’Connor- Attack/Senior A scoring machine whether it was off of assisted goals or cashing in a free position shots. Lindsay Radmann- Midfield/Junior Dynamic with the ball in her stick as a playmaker both as a scorer and a distributor. Alyssa Wolf- Defense/Senior A clamp on defense that made plenty of noise in the caused turnover and ground ball department.

Sacred Heart University

Bella Calvanese– Attack/Sophomore A natural goal scorer that buried shots from in tight at a high rate. Ellie Edwards- Midfield/Senior Delivered critical scoring in clutch moments. Jamie Tanner- Attack/Junior Automatic at finishing in transition. Erin Herrold- Midfield/Junior Really quick first step that allowed her to blow past defenders on dodges.

Siena University

Olivia Nicholson- Attack/Junior A pure scorer, Nicholson found the back of the net at ease both around the crease and when attacking downhill. Hailey Deptula- Midfield/Junior Was burying shots at an efficient rate whether it was in tight or on the run. McCalister Salter- Goalie/Junior Made a number of critical saves from shots that came from a wide range of angles. Grace Jones- Defense/Junior Played exceptional all around defense and was a difference maker between the lines in coming up with ground balls.
