At number 8 in the LILJ top 25 preseason rankings it’s Manhasset of Nassau County. Last year they were just one goal short of advancing to their fourth straight Long Island Championship after being defeated by Wantagh in the County Finals, and this year they make the move from Class C to Class B where they will have new opponents that they will face come playoff time as they look to get back to counties and then the LIC for the fourth time in five years. Now at the helm coaching the team is Tom Campolettano entering his first year as head coach. This winter Manhasset was a participant in the LILJ HSWL helping them get set for the spring season

On the offensive side of the ball Manhasset did see many of their key players from last year graduate in the class of 2024 including Lauren Perfetto, Shea Panzik, Nicole Giannakopoulos, Mia LoPinto and Holly Newman. This will now pave the way for their returning upperclassmen to have elevated roles this season. Among their returning players at attack include Harper Lambert (Duke), Elim Yang (Princeton), Grayson Denihan (Boston College), Lily Acerra (Trinity)  and Rebecca Alcaraz. In the winter league the duo of Lambert and Yang were top two in points with 19 from Lambert on 13 goals and 6 assists, and 14 from Yang on 11 goals and 3 assists. Manhasset’s midfielders include seniors Natalie Mascitti (Hamilton), Sarah Weigand (Merrimack), Joy D’Aneglo and Gwyneth Petersen, junior Gabby Osoriso, and in the sophomore class Danielle Perfetto, one of the premier 2027s as a two-way player that also takes draws. The team is also awaiting the return of junior midfielder Taylor Gordon the Boston College commit coming back from injury. Defensively Manhasset’s returning defenders include Alexia Giannakopoulos (UVA), Sophie Mineroff (Colorado College), and Jenna Themelis, and in the cage as the starter will be junior Stanford commit Ruby Cacioppo who already enters her fourth year on varsity and in the winter league recorded 45 saves in 5 games with a save percentage just under 50%. Opening up the regular season for Manhasset will be a non-league matchup against St. Dominic on March 24th, followed by a second non-league game against Kelleneberg on March 29th before playing their first league game in the power conference against Farmingdale on March 31st.
