In Nassau County Class B it’s the Long Beach Marines coming in at number 16 in the LILJ top 25 preseason rankings. Coached by Rachel Ray this is a team that has consistently made deep playoff runs with a trip to the county finals each of the last three years. They are still hoping to get over that hump of defeating Garden City and into the Long Island Championship. The team sees a number of players that return for another go at it that have been playing together for the last few years and they will once again be right in the mix to be one of the last teams remaining come playoff time. During the offseason Long Beach was a participant in the LILJ HSWL helping them get ready for the spring.

The offense for Long Beach is led by their senior Denver commit Delaney Chernoff who is their do-it-all midfielder as an impact player both offensively, defensively and on the draw circle. Chernoff’s 33 goals and 34 assists are the most on the team among their returning players, and she’ll be in a huge senior season. Their offense also features one of the top 2026s on the island at attack in junior Sky Kilfeather (FSU) who scored 27 goals with 15 assists last year and was first on the team in points this winter with 29 in a six game span, scoring 17 goals and dishing out 12 assists. Also in the junior class as at attack is Sienna Warren (Pace) coming off of a big sophomore season with 28 goals along with 6 assists, as well as Alex Backlin who added 8 goals. In the sophomore class Marianna Chimienti and Anala Teemer were each impact players as freshman with 14 goals and 4 assists from Chimienti and 12 goals plus 3 assists from Teemer. Look for sophomore Reilly Amorosa to also have an increased role this season after adding 4 goals and 4 assists as a freshman. Although this year they will be without current JMU freshman Ava Main, Long Beach looks to still have a high powered offense with their returning players. On the defensive end Long Beach sees the return of defenders Taryn Morris (Binghamton) and Franky DeCicco in the senior class and junior Ella Thornton, while in the cage as the starter will be the Hofstra bound senior Saoirse Feerick taking over for 2024 graduate Emily Backlin. The regular season opens up with three straight non-league games for Long Beach against Bethpage on March 24th, Oceanside on March 26th, and Connetquot on March 28th before playing their first league game in the power conference against Garden City in a rematch of the county finals on March 31st.
