The start of the 2025 high school season on Long Island is just a few weeks away and it looks to be another great year of varsity lacrosse. It’s a clean slate for every team across the island as they come into the spring with new goals that they are aiming to achieve by season’s end. Throughout the month of March leading up to the start of gameplay, the LILJ will be releasing its top 25 preseason rankings and team previews, but before starting with the top 25 rankings, below are some of the high school girls teams watch heading into the season!
Half Hollow Hills Thunderbirds- The Thunderbirds of Suffolk Class A head into the 2025 season following a 7-9 record last year and have put in a lot of outside time to prepare for the new season according to Head Coach Lori Horbach who enters her 25th season at the helm. Among their key returning players include senior midfielders Eliana LaGreca (Scranton), Arianna West (St. Bonaventure), junior defender Emma Crawford, and freshman attack/middie Kayla Grochow who recorded 22 points last year as an eighth grader. When asked about one thing that excites coach Horbach this season, she said
“This team has a lot of club experience and an extreme work ethic. We had some great off season individual accomplishments.”
Eastport South Manor Sharks- A perennial playoff team in Suffolk Class B, the Sharks are back after an appearance in the county semifinals in 2024. Led by Head Coach Becky Thorn who is in her 15th season, she shared a few keys to success this season.
“Buying into the ESM system of tradition and winning, bringing back our lockdown defense and finding the missing piece in goal to replace Ashley Langdon!”
This year the team will be filled with plenty of youth to compliment their returning upperclassmen that is filled with great leadership. Their returning upperclassmen include junior midfielder Taylor Murtha (Sacred Heart), and senior defenders Natalie Psaltis (Jacksonville) and Sarah Cluff (Marist). In the sophomore class midfielder Katelynn Murtha and defender Sarah Langdon made major contributions as freshmen and are in line to have another big time season. In the ’28 class look for attacker Alexa Quiery to potentially have an impact this year and the same in the ’29 class for attackers Ella Schopp, Ella Dragonette, midfielder Hayden Duswalt and defender Kendall Litchhult who all saw the field this winter in the LILJ HSWL. As they look to replace current Hopkins goalie Ashley Langdon, the Sharks have senior Kat Dietz (Springfield) and eighth grader Madyn Warsaw who each split time in goal in the winter league.
Lynbrook Owls- After a 7-10 record last year and an appearance in the Class C Quarterfinals, Lynbrook returns a number of starters this season under second year Head Coach Joe LaBarbera. At attack they welcome back the senior trio of Olivia Palleschi (Vassar), Penelope Yaker (Stonehill), and Luci Miata (Dominican) who combined for 102 points last season. Their midfield returns senior Brooke Mazzei (Temple) and junior Sophie Deifel (Binghamton) who accounted for 48 and 32 points respectively. Defensively they will be led by senior Gabby Meszaros (Ithaca) and junior Payton Stalter, with sophomore goalie Delia Kirkpatrick who made 72 saves as a freshman while splitting time in the cage. With a large number of returning players, coach Labarbera said he’s excited to see his team make some noise this year in Class C.
Seaford Vikings- Representing Nassau Class C in the Power Conference, the Seaford Vikings return led by third year Head Coach Krista Ancona. In 2024 the Vikings had an overall record of 7-9 with a playoff appearance where they were narrowly defeated in the quarterfinals. This season as they aim to take another step forward, they return a number of underclassmen, some of which who have already made major contributions and others who are poised for a breakout season. In the 2027 class Madison O’Hagan is a huge part of their midfield unit and had a big freshman campaign with 24 goals and 9 assists for 33 points. In two seasons on varsity O’Hagan has already totaled 46 career goals. Adding to their 2027s is attacker Katelynn Tuohy who scored 18 goals last season, midfielder Kelly Harrington who gradually saw more time on the field as the season progressed, and goalie Sarah Ulzheimer who made 85 saves in 2024. As for their returning upperclassmen, in the senior class Jess Grzelaczyk (Mercy) and Sophia Santella (Saint Leo) will be two of their go-to attackers as they recored 45 and 39 points respectively last year, while the defense will be led by senior defender Ashley Tuohy (LIU). Coach Ancona shared what excites her going into the season.
“We had great team comradery last year that I believe played a role in our success, and we are returning a good amount of underclassmen that know how things are run.”
Carey Seahawks- The Carey Seahawks head into the 2025 season moving from conference IV to conference III after an 11-4 record last year. At the helm is Head Coach Paul Luzzi in his third season and he shared what some the keys to a successful 2025 season will be.
“We’re looking to build upon last year’s success, compete with teams in conference III, and develop the players coming up from JV.”
Offensively the team returns two key midfielders in senior Leila Paz and junior Kaitlyn McGrath. Paz led the team with 80 points which was good for the seventh most in Nassau County with 68 goals and 12 assists. On defense their key returners include senior defenders Magdalena Koutsoumbaris and Lexi Giugliano, and in goal will be Kaylin DeJesus who was tenth in the county in saves with 129. The Seahawks will aim to compete with the new opponents they will face this season in conference III.
Division Dragons- After competing in Nassau Class C the Dragons move to Class B for the 2025 season. Coached by Sean Donnellan who has been at the helm since 2009, Division went 11-6 overall with a playoff appearance in the quarterfinals. This year they will be looking for their younger players to help fill the void of the six starters that were part of the 2024 graduating class. Among their returning upperclassmen include Mia Gray at attack who was their leading scorer last season with 32 goals, and Nevaeh Motes who coach Donnellan describes as a “speedy midfielder”. Defensively Riley Snevily and goalie Juliana Reyes headline the Dragons defense. Two of their underclassmen that will be impact players this year are freshman attack/middie Hannah O’Connor and sophomore midfielder Paige Murphy. Last season as an eighth grader O’Connor burst onto the scene with 17 goals and 4 assists for 21 points. Also look out for sophomore defender Eva Sinkevitch to potentially make an impact this year. Despite graduating a number of seniors last year, they will look to integrate their young guns as the team seeks to build on last year’s playoff win which was their first since 2018.
Wheatley Wildcats- The Wildcats of Wheatley coached by Rich Donovan enter this season following a 7-6-1 season in 2024. This year coach Donovan is excited about the teamwork and energy that surrounds his team as the new season approaches and looks at their improved depth and athleticism as two keys to their success. Three of their key returning seniors are midfielder Maeve Dearborn, defender Makenzie Sparacia and goalie Stephanie Kowalewski. In the junior class they return attacker Violet Brush, and among their 2027s include attacker Samantha Kovios and midfielders Krista Burke and Gianna Germin. Kovios was their leader in points last season with 41 goals and 26 assists for 67 points. The Wildcats look to take another step forward this season with the combination of youth and upperclassmen.
Great Neck North Wonder Goats- This year Great Neck North is looking to improve on a 4-7-1 record in 2024. They ended last season strong winning four of their final six games. They are coached by Alex Bellini who is now in year eight as the leader of the team. Returning to the team this season is Jaden Maze, Maddy Toch, and Aava Glickman. Last year Maze was among the team leader in goals with 27 and in the cage Glickman had a 100 save season, looking to replicate that success this season.
Center Moriches Red Devils- In Suffolk Class D the Red Devils of Center Moriches are poised for a bounce back season in 2025 after missing the playoffs last year. They are coached by Paul Raimondi entering his eighth season and he shared what excites him going into the season.
“We are returning a strong core of players and we have talented jv players ready to step up.”
Part of the core of returning players coach Raimondi is alluding to includes senior attackers Payton Noack (Bryant) and Makayla Walsh, their top two scorers from last season with 72 points from Noack and 51 from Walsh. Look for this attack duo to once again have huge statistical seasons this year. From the midfield junior Izabella Srodon is a key returning upperclassman and on the defensive end they are led by senior defender Giuliana Versacci and senior goalie Riley Schildt (FDU) who recorded 100 saves in 2024. Center Moriches will compete in a competitive Class D with teams like Mattituck and Babylon for the postseason.
Hicksville Comets- Coming into the new season Hicksville aims to build off of last season as they are now in their second year playing in conference III. Annmarie Hawkins is in her fourth year as head coach and she gave her thoughts on the upcoming season.
“I am looking for us to build upon last season. We were in a new conference with a young team, so with a large number of returning players, I am hoping to build upon last year’s successes.”
Many of the players they relied on last season are back now as upperclassmen with another year of experience under their belt. Their leading goal scorer is junior midfielder Brooke Sullivan-Pagano (Mercy) who had a breakout sophomore season with 71 goals and 14 assists for 85 points. On attack they welcome back juniors Gwendolyn Kohart after a 43 point sophomore campaign and Payton Charan who added 27 points. Defensively they return junior defender Ava Cristales and junior goalie Roslyn Feliciano who comes off of a 103 save season in 2024, rounding out their key returning upperclassmen. In the 2027 class midfielder Catherine Perrucci had an impressive freshman season with 38 points, looking to add to that this year as a sophomore. Madelyn Kohart the sophomore defender will look to play an important role to the Comets defense this year. Coach Hawkins expressed what some of the biggest keys to success will be for Hicksville in 2025.
“Veteran players working together to help build on each other’s strengths. We are also looking forward to bringing up many players from our JV team to build our numbers.”
Patchogue Medford Raiders- This year the Raiders of Pat-Med are striving to improve on a 6-7 record under now second year head coach Patrick Cleary. The team returns their four starting attackers in Olivia Liddell (Stony Brook), Alexa Schiller (LIU), Gianna Bevacqua, and Lily Durkin. Liddell was their leading scorer on their attack with 42 goals and 13 assists for 55 points. The Raiders midfield will be led by Addison Ruland (Army) and freshman Isabella Petersen, each coming off of an impactful 2024 season with 55 points from Ruland and 21 from Petersen. On the defensive side of the ball Madison Eddington is a key returning defender, and in goal will be Hailey Stratton the UNC Charlotte commit who was a brick wall last year making 131 saves, the fourth most in Suffolk County. Coach Cleary gave his thoughts on what excites him about his team entering the season.
“I am excited to see this team continue to build on their success and watch them play our brand of lacrosse. They have been and will continue to set the bar high for themselves and work to meet and exceed expectations. Effort, attitude, execution and consistency will be key components to our success this year.”
Ward Melville Patriots- The reigning Suffolk Class A County Champion Ward Melville Patriots head into the 2025 season looking very different after having a heavy senior class last year, but they’re fresh off of playing in the LILJ HSWL and are ready to hit the ground running this spring. This year their key returning upperclassmen include senior defenders Peyton Phillips (UPenn) and Ava Folkman, and senior midfielder Ava Simonton (Villanova), while in the junior class two of their key midfielders are Mia Modica (Hofstra) and Keira Pirozzi (Marist). Two of Long Island’s household sophomores that had a breakout freshmen seasons as starters are Aliya Leonard and defender Quinlan Heilbron, with Leonard tallying 28 points from the midfield and Heilbron being one of the premier defenders in the 2027 class. Both are primed to have another big year as they continue to elevate their game. Adding to their talented sophomore class is Sadie Banks and Ellie Speidell at attack that could have an impact this spring and in the winter league Banks led the Patriots in scoring with 13 goals. The talented youth on this team continues down to the 2028 class with freshman goalie Sydney Millett. In a small sample size last year Millett recorded 22 saves. In the 2029 class attacker Nicole Manolakes shined this winter on the varsity team where she was second on the team in scoring with 13 goals and will be a household name in this program for the years to come.
William Floyd Colonials- The Colonials have been one of the perennial playoff contenders the last few years, and last year was no different where they went 13-5 overall with an appearance in the Suffolk Class A Semifinals. This season they will be a lot different team without a player like Kayla Gilmore who was part of the 2024 class, but they do return Emma DiMaio (Stony Brook) one of the top attackers on the island in the junior class. DiMaio is a premier feeder and was third in Suffolk County last season with 45 assists and sixth in points with 82. The midfield is led by junior Ava Tiedemann (LIU) who put together a 37 point sophomore campaign. Two juniors that could be in line for a breakout 2025 are Jayla Pimental the Pace bound attacker and Natalie Samlihan. In the cage they return junior Julia Hipperling their starting goalie who saved 94 shots a season ago. Floyd will be looking to once again make some noise in Class A this season.
Connetquot Thunderbirds- After going 11-6 overall last season and a playoff appearance in the quarterfinals, Connetquot sees the return of much of their roster for the 2025 season as they aim to build off of their playoff appearances the last few years. They bring back five of their top six leading scorers including Sydney Elizade (Cortland), Jamie Elliot (Binghamton), Natalie Insinga, Taryn Murphy (New Haven), and Bianca Graham (UNC Charlotte), while defensively they return Radford commit Jenna Zachmann. In the goal will likely be freshman Shannon Morley who was the full time starter as an eighth grader last year where she saved 70 shots. One of the island’s top 2028s Jennavieve Lineman already enters year three on varsity and will be a big presence on the draw circle and as part of the midfield. This Thunderbirds team will have plenty of continuity going into the new season.
Smithtown East Bulls- The Bulls are a team that will look very different with last year’s Suffolk County scoring leader Jenna Soto now at Northwestern. However they do return their second leading scorer Jenna Mehlinger (Marist) who will be the focal point of the Bulls offense as they will look to once again secure a playoff spot in Suffolk Class A. They appeared in the playoffs last year where they won an opening round playoff game before losing in the quarterfinals. They are also without 2024 graduate Grace McDonald their starting goalie which likely paves the way for junior Ryan Dart (Cortland) to be their starter this season. Two young guns to look out for this season in the 2028 class are midfielder Bowen Schmitt who scored 12 goals with 3 assists as an eighth grader, and defender Noelle Napolitano.
Walt Whitman Wildcats- The Wildcats ended last years regular season strong, closing out with four straight wins to make the playoffs in Suffolk Class A. Although they were defeated in the opening round, they will look to get back to the playoffs and go a step further in 2025. This is a young team with players that will make noise for this team for quite some time. Headlining the core of their youth is sophomore Bella Fiorelli, one of the island’s premier attackers in the class. The crafty righty was Whitman’s leading scorer with 42 goals and 12 assists for 54 points in her freshman season. Adding to their youth is sophomore attacker Kate Macaluso and eighth grade attacker Ryleigh Nolan who each had 26 and 15 points respectively. With another year of varsity under the belts of their young guns, look for this team to once again have a shot at sneaking into the playoffs.
Sachem North Flaming Arrows- A team that saw many graduate in the 2024 class, Sachem North will have a different team this year, looking to once again qualify for the playoffs. Although they graduated a lot, they do return key upperclassmen in attackers Mattea Vino (Saint Leo) and Aileen Lawton (Anderson), defender Lea Rowett (UMass Lowell) and goalie Alyssa Tappin. In the sophomore class they return midfielder Addison Pitman who was the team leader in points last season as a freshman with 46, scoring 32 goals and dishing out 14 assists. Sachem North will be competing for another playoff berth against a very competitive Suffolk Class A.
Bay Shore Marauders- The 2024 season saw Bay Shore go 6-10 and come up short of making the playoffs, and this year they’ll be looking for a bounce back season. Back this season are two of their top three leading scorers in midfielder Hailey Naslonski (Old Dominion) and attacker Rachel Waide. Defensively and in the cage the Marauders return defender Kaitlyn Brewer (Queens) and goalie Cecilia Ryan (JMU). Playing in Suffolk Class A Bay Shore will be battling a number of teams vying for a spot in the playoffs.
Mattituck Tuckers- Last year the Tuckers came up just short of making it back to back Long Island Championship appearances after being defeated in the county finals, but much of their talent still remains giving them an excellent chance to reclaim the Class D county title. They have a strong junior class with midfielders Gianna Calise (JMU), Page Kellershon (Navy), Claire McKenzie (Rollins), and attacker Grace Quinn. This quartet will give Mattituck a very formidable offense which averaged just over 10 goals a game last season. They’ll likely be competing with Babylon and Center Moriches for the Class D County Championship.
Miller Place Panthers- Part of a loaded Suffolk Class C are the Panthers of Miller Place who went 10-7 overall last season and qualified for the playoffs for the second time in three years. Offensively they have last year’s Suffolk County assist leader Mirabella Altebrando who had 65 from the attack position along with 21 goals for an 86 point season. Altebrando is the quarterback of the offense which scored just over 10 goals per game. Three of their returning midfielders are Angie Efstathiou (Siena), Hayden Young (Quinnipiac) and Lyla Coffey, while the defense is led by defender Abby LoNigro (Quinnipiac). Miller Place will be looking to make the playoffs for the third time in four years and potentially take another step forward by winning a playoff game.
Babylon Panthers- This year Babylon is going for the repeat in Suffolk Class D after winning last year’s county final and appearing the Long Island Championship. Their returning cast includes juniors Peyton Logue-Boyd (Arizona State), Lily Krollage (Flagler) and Delaney Busch (Youngstown) at midfield, freshman attacker Ryleigh Busch, senior defender Grace Varley (Hofstra) and junior goalie Addison Costa. Last season Costa’s 102 saves was among the top 20 in saves across Suffolk County. Although they will miss current UVA freshman Sophia Conti, the team still has plenty of returning talent giving them a chance to win back-to-back county titles as they will be battling teams like Mattituck and Center Moriches in the conference.
East Islip Redmen- East Islip comes off of a great 2024 season that saw them surprise a lot of people by going 9-7 overall with an appearance in the playoffs. The overwhelming majority of their team is back for the upcoming season and they’ll strive to make it consecutive years of making the playoffs. Midfielder Emily McIntee who was their leader in points last season with 46 returns for her senior season, and they also bring back sophomores Avery Bowden at attack and midfielder Anna Kohlhoff who were each impact players as freshmen with Bowden recording 37 points and Kohlhoff 24 points. Two of their returning juniors are midfielder Carly Amato (UMass) and attacker Keira Bloch. The Redmen defense welcomes back senior defender Alyssa Charles (Howard) and in the goal will be the freshman Theresa Codispoti, one of the top goalies in the 2028 class.
John Glenn Knights- Although the Knights return after just a four win season in 2024, this team has a lot of youth that will look to elevate the team this season. Their attack includes one of the island’s top flight eighth graders in Michaela Grever, now entering her second season on varsity. As a seventh grader Grever excelled in a big way and was their leading scorer with 45 goals as well as 7 assists for 52 points. Their attack also includes sophomore Morgan Levy who was another impact player her freshman year with 23 goals and 6 assists. At midfield in the senior class the team returns Sierra Roizman and in the junior class Krista Triolo who combined for 47 points last season, and another one of their young guns in the 2029 class is midfielder Lindsey Skop, recording 10 points in year one on varsity as a seventh grader.
Sacred Heart Spartans- Coming into the 2025 season Sacred Heart has a new leader at the helm with Chloe Hoschel entering her first season as head coach. She takes over a team that is a perennial parochial contender for the CHSAA Championship. Last year’s team graduated a lot with a heavy 2024 class, meaning they will look for those retuning and those upcoming to fill the void. Two of the team’s returning attackers are senior Colleen Thieke (Virginia Tech) and junior Rhylee Kirchner (Stetson). Thieke was second on the team in points last season with 34 and Kirchner will surely have an elevated role this year after recording 10 points as a sophomore. Their midfield returns two of the premier middies in their respective class with senior Virginia commit Cady Flaherty and sophomore Allie Reasoner. Flaherty’s 40 points in 2024 led the team, and Reasoner excelled in year one on varsity as an athletic do-it-all middie. In goal Sacred Heart has sophomore Olivia Manago who saw plenty of action last season as a freshman and recorded 94 saves on the season. Also on the roster adding to their goalie depth is senior Grace Didora and junior Ava Lamantia.
Kellenberg Firebirds- One of the teams that appeared in last year’s CHSAA final four were the Kellenberg Firebirds. This year they’ll look a lot different with those that were part of the 2024 graduating class along with some who have transferred, but the new look Firebirds aim to get right back to the semifinals again this year. One of their returning players is senior goalie Delaney Clark the Holy Cross commit who made 120 saves in 2024. In the junior class they return Fairfield commit Rachel Nagengast at midfield while on attack sophomore Mairead O’Sullivan will have a huge role this year after she recorded 13 goals and 8 assists as a freshman.
St. Dominic Bayhawks- Another parochial team that consistently finds themselves in the CHSAA final four are the St. Dominic Bayhawks and last season was no different. Although they graduated key players from last year’s senior class, they have their third leading scorer from last season in sophomore attacker Lilly DeNatale who scored 17 goals with 8 assists for 25 points. They also add to their team sophomore midfielder Kaitlin Timmes as a transfer from Baldwin and junior FSU commit Marlo Knox from Oyster Bay who led all of Nassau County in points with 102, scoring 70 goals with 32 assists. Two of the Bayhawks returning defenders are senior Keira Laibach (Saint Francis) and junior Ellie Scardina (Manhattan). St. Dominic led by head coach Jerry Caramelli will look to be back in the CHSAA final four.
North Shore Vikings- In the Nassau County Power Conference the North Shore Vikings went 6-12 overall last season but that included a playoff victory in the quarterfinals before being defeated in the Class C Semifinals. Two of their key returning upperclassmen are junior midfielder Erin Lily LaRosa who comes off of a 28 point sophomore season and senior middie/defedner Alexandra Basile (Saint Francis). The Vikings roster also has some young and talented underclassmen between sophomore midfielder Lila Archer and freshman attacker Natalie Yoo. In her first season on varsity last year, Yoo scored 15 goals with seven assists and delivered in clutch moments which included the overtime game winner in the quarterfinals to send North Shore to the semifinals. This year the Vikings will aim to compete amongst the top teams across the power conference and be among the final four remaining from Nassau Class C in the playoffs once again.
Port Washington Vikings- This year Port Washington enters their second season playing in the power conference in Nassau County. Although they finished the season with just a 4-12 record overall they did win an opening round playoff game and appear in the Class A Semifinals. They will be led by senior Virginia Tech commit Catherine Karman who was second on the team in points last season with 39. Karman the attack/middie will be the quarterback of the Vikings offense and their primary draw taker. Offensively Port Washington also returns junior attacker Maggie Cassidy (Arizona State) and sophomore attacker Violet Ortenzi and Amber Fox. Among their returning defenders include senior Molly Gober and junior Kaci Wood, playing in front of junior goalie Hayes Hasset who recorded 91 saves last season.
Calhoun Colts- Following a 10 win season and an appearance in the Nassau Class B Semifinals, Calhoun will look to replicate that success in 2025. The offense of the Colts will run through senior Alexandra Aievoli who connected for 30 goals and 13 assists for 43 points last year. Adding to their offense is senior Samantha Kalinoglu the lefty attacker, who provided 17 goals last season. In goal will be senior Lainey Guzowski as the last line of defense. This Colts team also has some young guns that could be big contributors this year for their midfield in sophomore Tessa Gerard and freshman Tess McGuire who were each members of the team last season.
Plainedge Red Devils- Last year was an 11 win season for the Red Devils and a playoff appearance in the Class C Quarterfinals. This year they will be without their leading scorer in Reagan Morra the current Adelphi freshman, but they do have a number of key returning players who were a big part of last seasons success. Their midfield unit sees the return of seniors Madison Wade and Lia Villari the two Pace commits who combined for 77 points last year. In the 2027 class Peyton Wise will be one of their go-to attackers after a freshman season in which she recorded 28 points. Plainedge will be seeking another playoff berth in 2025 as they compete in Conference II and in Class C.
Carle Place Frogs- Carle Place has consistently found themselves in the Class D County Final, and this year they will look to once again be in that position as one of the last teams standing. Although they will be without some key players who were part of the 2024 graduating class, they bring back some of their core upperclassmen that will be pivotal in their success this year. Part of their attack will feature senior Reese Aguilar and Alexa Wenger, while the midfield is headlined by sophomore Madison Reedy who stepped up in a big way her freshman season with 30 goals and 11 assists for 41 points. Offensively they were one of the highest scoring teams in conference II averaging 10.5 goals per game.
MacArthur Generals- After a 7-10 season for the Generals and a playoff appearance, they see many of their key players from last year back for another run. Their returning attack unit includes Kacy Dynprowski, Emily Flanagan, Kayleigh Huggard, and Danielle Kupcs. Dynprowski was their leading scorer among their attackers with 20 goals as well as 10 assists for 30 points. The midfield for MacArthur includes Eve Larkin (Drexel) and Caleigh O’Shea, and the duo combined for 68 points on the season in 2024. The cage will be well protected for MacArthur this year with Abby Clarkson (Youngstown) in the net who was tied for third in Nassau County with 150 saves last year.
Locust Valley Falcons- In Nassau County Class D are the Locust Valley Falcons who appeared in the Class D County Semifinals. They are led on offense by their senior attacker Katie Nabet the Jacksonville commit who found the back of the net 32 times with 8 assists last season for 40 points. The attack unit also includes sophomore Tessa Matozzo who didn’t disappoint in her freshman season as she scored 33 goals with 10 assists for 43 points and now returns with plenty of experience under her belt. The midfield also has young gun talent with freshman Elizabeth Vitale who didn’t shy away from the big stage as an eighth grader, exploding for 45 points with 29 goals and 16 assists. One of the biggest strengths of the team is their goaltending with sophomore Emery de Lauzon who stopped 119 saves which was good for top 12 in Nassau County.
Baldwin Bruins- The Bruins come off of a great 2024 season where they went 13-2 playing in conference III and appeared in the playoffs which now elevates them to conference II for the 2025 season. This year they will be without their top two leaders in points from last year with Emma Ryan part of the 2024 graduating class and Kaitlin Timmes transferring to St. Dominic. In their absence, the team will look for even more production from returning players CJ Keryc, Ava Jerome, and Sophie Sorensen after combining for 98 points. One of their young guns is eighth grader Valentina Altamirano who made last year’s team as a seventh grader and produced 15 points with eight goals and seven assists. Now the Bruins will face new opponents this season as they gear up for a conference II schedule.
Oyster Bay Baymen- The Baymen went 10-7 overall last year and appeared in the playoffs where they played in the county semifinals of Class D. This year they are without last year’s Nassau County Points leader Marlo Knox who has transferred to nearby St. Dominic, but they do return one of the top eighth grade attackers on the island Addison Fox who delivered in a huge way in her first year on varsity with 33 goals and 17 assists for 50 points. The youth continues on this team with freshman midfielder Mary Woodstock who accounted for 25 points last season. In the cage is junior Avery McCusker who stopped 148 saves which was good for the sixth most across Nassau County.
