A game like this shows why Smithtown West will be a handful come the spring season as they saw contributions from a number of different players on both sides of the ball. Offensively Jolie Schiavo the JMU commit put together a stellar game with five goals and three assists for a game high eight points. Rutgers bound Kate Theofield also found the back of the net four times along with one assist for five points, and right behind her was the sophomore Alyssa Lorefice with three goals as well as an assist. Recording two goals each was Lasalle commit Madison Nuzzi, Sydney Marks, and Kate Braun. Smithtown West’s command on the draw circle was prevalent as Ashley Mennella was a perfect 6/6.
Defensively, Lola Russo recorded two ground balls along with a caused turnover, Ashley Mennella had two takeaways and a ground ball, and Grace Theofield the Binghamton commit tallied a ground ball and was seen up and down the field clearing to the Bulls offense.
On the other side, the bright spot for Huntington in this game came from their first half goalie in Andie DiGioia. The freshman recorded 10 saves in 20 minutes of play with a save percentage of 52%.
Coming up in the playoffs, Smithtown West will face Garden City at 8:00pm on January 3rd, while Huntington is back in action for the playoffs on January 7th at 1:00pm against Team Excelsior.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
